Save your files like this: texturename000.tga. Repeat this as many times as is needed to save all the frames/layers for your image, and remember that if yoiu are making a spray the fewer frames the better. Next hide all but the second layer and save it. Following the naming convention explained below, what you want to do here is hide all but the first layer and save the image on your desktop / in a convenient location. Step 2: SavingThis is pretty straight forward, but you have to follow a specific naming convention for it to work. Sometimes by showing and hiding layers in GIMP you can work around compression. If you open a gif and the layers appear clean and solid, with no missing parts, you should be fine.

To tell whether the gif has been compressed or not, open it in GIMP (or Photoshop if you know how) and it will immediately be apparent: parts of the layers will be cut out and missing.

GIMP doesn't have any problem opening a gif with its layers intact, and it's free (see link under 'Required Programs'). I'm sure there's a way to do it, I just haven't used PS enough to figure it out.
